Terms and Conditions

The terms and conditions as set out in this policy apply to Stairways Music School sessions, and/or any other Stairways Music School services or experiences that we provide.

The booking process and Your contract with us

To book a student into Stairways Music School you must complete all the details as requested on the booking system which is location, age and session specific, but easy to use! Once booked and paid in full, the student will have free access to Fender Play whilst they are a member at our school. Fender Play is a subscription service aimed at those looking to learn a new instrument. This can be guitar, bass, ukulele or a bit of each. On the platform (which they can access on a host of devices), they get access to hours of video footage from skilled musicians, teaching techniques, songs and training their ability to play.

It starts at the basics like how to hold the guitar and key terminology and ends with being able to play a host of popular songs and will support the students for home learning.

By booking a place into Stairways Music School you are accepting to our below terms and conditions.

Booking is subject to the number of places that we have at the school at any given time. 

Special consideration will be given if you are a returning customer re-booking at the end of a term for a further term. However we cannot guarantee that space will be available in the following terms so please book early to avoid disappointment.     

Price and payment

  • The price of sessions and/or terms for Stairways Music School which you wish to book will be the price listed at the time of your booking.
  • All payments must be made in full at the time of booking.
  • Fees will be reviewed quarterly and may or may not be increased in line with general inflation.


Please note that transaction charges may apply for some credit card providers.

Your right to cancel or provisionally change your booking

  • All bookings that are made with Stairways Music School will be final, we are not obliged to issue any refund should you decide not to continue with your Stairways Music School contract however, that being said, we will look into each individual case should there be an extenuating circumstance as to the reason to terminate the student's placement. 
  • If you need to take a break or defer your attendance, then we will endeavour to accommodate this, but we cannot guarantee the availability for the student upon their return.
  • If you are terminating a booking, we will try to fill the place(s) you have booked with other customers. If we can fill your booked place(s) with another customer, then you will be refunded any advance payment you may have made but only if we can fill the cancelled position  
  • Any refunds due to you will be made as soon as practicably possible using the same method, you used for payment.


If we have to make changes to these terms and conditions and such changes affect your rights, you will be notified in advance of the proposed change. In these circumstances you will be given the opportunity to terminate the contract before the changes take effect and receive a full refund for any bookings which have not yet taken place.


If we decide to cancel a session for reasons outside our control, we will offer you an additional session on a future week without charge.


Please note we do not offer any complementary sessions unless they are given in competition or as a reward.

Your Responsibility as a customer at Stairways Music School:


The information you provide at the time of your Booking is complete and accurate and that any changes will be notified to us as soon as practicably possible.


When attending Stairways Music School neither you (If you are an adult booking a session) student, parent, carer or any other person attending will knowingly be suffering from any disease(s) infectious, contagious or otherwise.


You comply with all terms as set out in the social media, Photograph and videography policy.


If there is a risk that the student attending Stairways Music School suffers from a medical condition that may require the administration of medication that you as parent, guardian or carer will remain in attendance, on site or the student should be able and/or is deemed capable to administer it themselves. In this case we will need this in writing before attendance at the school.

Any medication must be clearly labelled and stored accordingly.

You acknowledge that none of our staff will administer any medication unless fully trained and/or prior permission by parent, guardian or carer of student consents. In this case we will need this in writing before attendance at the school.

You agree to comply with all health and safety rules and procedures in place at the venue where Stairways Music School is being held.


Important – Please read the following

Whilst we give you the option to provide us with information about your child’s health and needs, you acknowledge that not all staff are medically trained.  Staff are not qualified to assess whether you or your child are fit or well enough to take participate on any given date Please contact your GP if you are in any doubt before booking.

Right to exclude or suspend 

  • We are entitled to exclude you, or any accompanying student from Stairways Music School at any given time for a period as we specify (which may be permanently) if in our, opinion, the behaviour of any student, parent, Carer or guardian is unacceptable or detrimentally disruptive and/or puts other students or service users at risk. In these circumstances the price you have paid for any sessions at Stairways Music School (or part of it which you have been excluded form) will not be refunded. The accompanying person, student or otherwise, may return if they themselves are not associated with the actions of another. 
  • Each student shall be required to agree to the Code of Conduct and Anti bullying policy provided before attendance.
  • Attendance at Stairways Music School shall be deemed as acceptance of the policies and their terms and conditions.

Exclusions of Liability

  • We are only responsible to you for foreseeable loss and damage caused by us where we have either failed to comply with the terms and conditions as set out in this policy or have failed to use reasonable due care and diligence. We are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable. 
  • We do not exclude or limit in any way our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for: death or personal injury caused by either our negligence or that of our employee's, agents or sub-contractors; for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; and for breach of your legal rights, including the right for the Music School to be supplied with reasonable skill and care.
  • As Stairways Music School is a social club intended for both domestic and private use, we are not liable to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity that a student or parent may incur by attending the Stairways Music School. 

Loss / Damage to Equipment

  • Equipment is free to use at Stairways Music School Limited. If a student intentionally damages any equipment they will be charged for these damages.
  • If a student loses or damages any personal belonging while at Stairways Music School, Stairways Music School will not be responsible for this loss.

Your legal rights

As a customer of Stairways Music School, you have legal rights in relation to our activities. Advice about your legal rights can be sought from your local Citizens’ Advice Bureau www.adviceguide.org.uk.

How your personal information will be used

We will use the personal information you provide to us strictly in accordance with the terms of Stairways Privacy Notice which can be viewed on our website under Policies tab.

Concluding Information:

  • We operate in accordance with Stairways Music Schools Child Protection and Safeguarding Policies & Procedures which are available to view on our website under the Policies tab.
  • Each provision of these terms and conditions operates separately. If any court or relevant authority decides that any of them are unlawful, the remaining terms and conditions will remain in effect. 
  • These terms and conditions constitute an agreement between you and Stairways Music School. No statement or promise alleged to have been made and which is not contained or referred to in these terms and conditions shall be binding or form part of them. 
  • This contract is between you and Stairways Music School in respect of your booking. Except for Stairways Music School no other person, organisation or entity of any kind shall have any rights to enforce any of these terms and conditions.
  • These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and the courts of England shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction.


- Although all students will have access to the Fender Play application on joining the school. This access could be revoked at any point during the term. Alternative learning material will be given in this circumstance.
